Mission Statement

To further, in every way, interest in gardening and kindred subjects and to cooperate with all programs for the improvement in planting, conservation, environment and beautification of our island.

The Club supports many outreach programs, local environmental organizations, scholarship programs and services through the monies raised by our annual Holiday Tour of Homes and our June Outdoor Living Garden Tour. Professional speakers present programs throughout the year on floral design, horticulture, environmental issues and garden related topics. Membership meetings are held the second Thursday of every month, September through May excluding December.

Outside Living Garden Tour & Art Show! June 2024

The 2024 Outside Living Garden Tour and Art Show, chaired by Michele Farias, with Co-chair, Diana Castle, was a resounding success.  Their planning and oversight created a beautiful experience for all attendees.  The weather was delightful and showcased our gardens magnificently.

Ticket holders were treated to six private gardens and the three gardens our club maintains throughout the island.  Many enhancements with plein air artists, vendors, environmental awareness, horticultural tips, and an amazing green elephant sale provided variety and interest.

All members volunteered their time, energy and expertise to create this very successful experience.  Ticket design and sales, publicity, website/social media are just of a few of the behind the scenes activities that are required to offer an island tour that is appropriate for our visitors. The generosity of the homeowners who offer their properties is so appreciated, as their kindness allows this activity to go forward.  They, along with the garden club, contribute to all the programs offered to the Long Beach Island community.

It is the people who purchase our tickets who are to be commended.  Your support is needed to fund the work of The Garden Club of LBI.  As a 501c3, all monies raised support our club’s community outreach. Our programs, to name a few, cover youth, scholarships, senior services, environmental, continuing education, floral design and flower shows, plus the three island gardens we maintain.   From 16 women who organized the club in 1957, our membership has grown to just under 200 people, with purpose and a desire to give back to the community. We thank the public for supporting our initiatives.

The Environmental Committee enjoyed their participation at the Barnegat Bay Day 2024 event hosted at the Long Beach Island Foundation in Loveladies on July 10, 2024.  The Garden Club was one of fifteen nonprofit organizations offering interactive activities for people of all ages!
