The Garden Club of LBI gathered with 105 members at Calloway’s Restaurant in West Creek for their annual Holiday Luncheon on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. Judie Alloway and Bonnie Korbiel chaired the lovely gathering. The beautiful natural centerpieces at each table, designed by Judy Alloway, added a festive touch to the setting. At the end of the program, several lucky members of the club won the chance to take the centerpieces home!
President Lois Perry opened the event by lauding the success of the Club’s 57th Annual Holiday Tour of Homes, recognizing Paula Brennan & Kim Carroll for their outstanding organization of the event. She gave further recognition to other December events, including the Club’s participation in the Ship Bottom Holiday Parade chaired by Karen Martinez and the Senior Services program organized by Joanne McKee.
After lunch, Lois further acknowledged Joyce Lubach for coordinating what became an overwhelming toy donation drive for the RWJ Barnabas Children’s Specialized Hospital in Toms River. Kathy Dowe organized food and personal items collected for the St. Francis Food Pantry located in Brant Beach. In Lois’s words, “All members can feel blessed that we are able and willing to support our community.” This message was reiterated by Barb Cona in her Thought for the Day.
A delicious meal, great service and lively conversation was the perfect way for Club members to share time together before reconvening in the new year!
