From the sixteen women who organized The Garden Club of LBI in 1957, membership has grown to nearly 200. Originally started as a group to “encourage planting trees and shrubs”, The Garden Club has broadened to “further in every way, interest in gardening and kindred subjects and to cooperate with all programs for the improvement of planting, conservation, environment and beautification of the area.”
Members meet monthly for tea, a general meeting and a special gardening program.
Adopting the motto, “Watch us Grow”, The Club has done just that for more than half a century. In 1961, The Club joined the Federated Garden Club and the Garden Club of New Jersey as well as the National Garden Club.
